History (校史簡介)
Daan Junior High School was established in 1961 based on the educational policy of the government. The first principal was Mr. Nieh Chung-shan who named the school “Daan”. Thanks to the successful administration under past principals, Daan has become a sizable and well-operated high school.
At first, this school was a boys’ school, but now it’s a coeducational school. The current President, Mr. Ma, also graduated from this school. After years of enlargement, there are 60 general classes and two handicapped resource classes in the 98th school year. The number of students is 1,900 now. Also, we set the extension classes at night to implement adult basic education; the number of the class is 3.
Since 1991, our school has recruited girl students. From 1998, boy students and girl students were divided into the same classes. To our surprise, we found that all the students could improve their learning no matter in their studies or their life discipline. Every principal of the school has emphasized on life education, ethic education and democracy education since the school was established. Besides, we are very proud of every kind of team like Symphonic Band, String Orchestra, Basketball Associations, etc. in extra-curricular activities.
We believe that our principal, Ms. Lin, can lead all of us to strive for excellence. It is the sound collaboration among administration, teaching, research and service that constitutes the efficient management of Daan. Daan successfully presents the style of a remarkable school in the new century.
